Conventional Wisdom

(Historical Notes: I’ve mentioned this elsewhere, but back when I originally designed Those Kids, I picked a trio of costumes that seemed pretty popular with the younger demographic at the time.  The thing is, that time was fifteen years ago by the point of this comic, so I’d already gone through SEVERAL bouts of questioning if their design made sense any more.  heck, I even experiment with putting them in entirely different costumes at one point.  But then weekends like this kept happening, confirming that there’s always SOMEBODY still willing to dress up as hamsteak, so I should just go with it.  But still, that’s just another reason why I was feeling the urge to phase out references to Real World IPs in favor of my own.  Because how can something go out of style if nobody ever knew what it was in the first place?

Also, I’m tempted to make a “Oh, you just wait and see how bad it can get” directed at The Third One about Doctor Who… but in all fairness, I’ve only actually seen the tiniest snippets of recent Who.  I really did give up on the franchise at right around the time referenced here.  I know, right?  Me not being interested in something?  What are the odds?)
