Let’s be clear: I knew going into this that I wasn’t gonna stumble onto some Last Blockbuster situation where the store was intentionally being preserved as a time capsule of a bygone age or anything like that.  But even by “modern store that just happens to still have an older store’s name” standards, this was a store of disappointment.  So much so, in fact, that this page actually morphed into TWO pages during the drawing process.  So there’s still a lot I have to say that got pushed back to the soon-to-come Page 6 due to pacing issues.  I’ll hold off most of my specific rambling for that and following pages.

But for now, as you can see from the photos above (or at least the parts of them that didn’t get chopped up.  I also kinda botched taking pictures at angles that I could draw around), there’s very little of the trademark Suncoast store aesthetic left here.  Those film reel lights are a BIT neat, and somewhat recall the store’s old design theme, but for the most part the store just looks MEH.  By the way, you might notice some CRT screens hanging from the ceiling as well, which obviously SHOULD be playing some commercials or movie trailers or something… but weren’t.  It’s entirely possible they just don’t have a player to plug into those things anymore, but it’s also quite possible that it’d just be a waste to advertise movies in a store that clearly is more interested in selling Funko Pops.
