ConCONcon 2020 – page 6
I tell ya, with every day that passes I know a little bit less about anything that everyone else thinks is interesting, and vice versa.
…and if you’re scratching your head about what any of that nonsense in those first three panels means, CONGRATULATIONS! You know know how I feel when listening to any media less than a decade old! But seriously, this is 2020’s first visit to that crazy side-quest I started last year of creating a whole fictional universe for Conventional Wisdom. In case you missed it, I’ve started replacing references to ACTUAL anime with completely made up stuff where possible, partially so I can have control over all the details, and partially to avoid any fandoms getting mad at me over something I said. That, and I have this crazy fantasy of eventually making a whole line of fake, meta-merchandise for anime that doesn’t actually exist.
EDIT: Okay, if you checked out this comic right after it was posted, then strained your eyes struggling to read the blurry little text, hopefully this re-posting will be a little bit more legible. I don’t do these “left to right strip” pages anywhere near as often as the “top down page” format, so it caught me by surprise just how much smaller the text would wind up once I’d web-sized the comic. Admittedly, a page with this much talking was gonna have tiny text anyway, but hopefully Take 2 here will be a BIT easier to read.
I would totally watch “The Ghosts in Those Mountains are Aggravating”.
Hey, one of these days I’m totally gonna make that in-universe wiki that explains what all these fictional shows are about, hopefully it’ll live up to the expectations!
I suspect that “The Ghosts in Those Mountains are Aggravating” would just be a fairly generic harem rom-com anime, with all the girls being ghosts the ML/MC finds in mountains. If it has relations to Youtube Critics, then the ML/MC is likely a professional Youtube Critic who pads out some of his content by hiking in mountains and critiquing the trails. Something that may have even started as a gag to showcase how much work goes into even bland critiques, and ended up being what brought his content some views, so he started doing it again, only to run into pretty girl ghosts who mess up his on-site critiques and are generally aggravating.
Rather than actually come out and say what my little summary of what The Ghosts in These Mountains are Aggravating is, I’ll just tease everyone with this tidbit: the whole thing is based directly on a dream I had once.
Which tells us absolutely nothing, and so I will continue to believe that my suspicion is correct, despite having sufficient knowledge to say that it’s almost certainly wrong.
It could also tell you that whatever delusional rambling I jotted down right after I woke up is almost certainly so vague and non-nonsensical that there could be room to include all SORTS of story elements without actually affecting what I have. 🙂
