Anime USA 2015 – page 12
I mentioned last year how people sitting around the lobby with piles of luggage looked like a hobo camp, but that had nothing on the sight of a bunch of Artist Alley tables with suitcases wedged all around them.
For the record, I just don’t trust the hectic, always-overflowing hotel bag check with any of my stuff. Usually I’ll just drag my luggage out to the car early Sunday morning… but in AUSA’s case, said car was several metro stops away, so that wasn’t really an option. Thus, Artist Hobo Camp.
(Historical Notes: I gradually got more and more determined about trekking out with the luggage on Sunday morning from other cons, buts something about the layout of the Woodley Park area in general just always made it seem like too much of a hassle where AUSA was concerned. Maybe it was that much more of a hike to get out of the hotel to the streets in the first place, maybe the escalator was that much longer than the ones at, say, Mt. Vernon or Chinatown, or maybe Wardman Park just has more comfortable chairs in the lobby than anyplace else, but in this one case I was always content to just camp out and wait for the van to be brought back. Even if it was really cluttered.)
