Conventional Wisdom

So, this was a little odd to me. Pre-Reg check in on Thursday was virtually line free. I’ve NEVER gotten a badge that quickly at a con before. All the OTHER lines, however, were even longer and crazier than usual. Getting in Friday morning was an especially wild and crazy journey.

(Historical Notes: To provide some additional context, big cons like Otakon only have so many places where you can enter, in the interest of badge checks and all that.  Thus, even if everybody already has a badge, there can still be a line to get in if enough people bottleneck or show up before the doors open.  And since Baltimore in the Summer is really hot, nobody wants to risk getting stuck outside too late, so EVERYBODY tries to get in early.  Thus, big ol’ winding line.)
