Nothing was wrong, it’s just super weird to be in an area you associate with a big noisy event before that event is happening.

…but then I went to sleep as soon as we got our stuff into the hotel, so I didn’t have to think about it very long.

(Historical Notes: I can’t remember if it happened this year and I just didn’t mention it here, or if it was later and I’m repeating myself, but I saw a tweet from somebody who SOMEHOW managed to book a room and buy a plane tick to THE WRONG GAYLORD.  Dude was out in Texas before realizing everyone else was in DC.  Even in the absolute worst convention experiences I’ve had over the years, at least I can take comfort in knowing I didn’t accidentally book a room in the WRONG TIME ZONE.)
