Conventional Wisdom

MAGFest had a lot of bands. In other news, water is wet and the Pope is Catholic. I’m not a huge follower of video game music, so I must confess to having heard of very few of these artists before hand. However, they all put on fantastic shows, and I ended up walking home with a HUGE pile of CDs.

Random Encounter was probably the most unexpected discovery of the bunch. I mean, an accordion? Really? Yes really, and they rocked the place (though, now that I think about it, I’m not sure at all if “Metal” is the right word to be using here) Oh, and just to make things a little more awesome, that accordion? By the end of the weekend, it was signed by Nobeuo Uematsu and Earthbound Papas.

Lest the other bands I saw should feel elft out… there’s all of them: The Minibosses, Armadillo Personnel Carrier, Die Hard Cafe, Armcannon, Metroid Metal, This Place Is Haunted, Bit Brigade, The OneUps, Year 200X, and two more I’ll get to later. That doesn’t even include the bands I MISSED… or the chiptunes artist, who I’ll also get to later. man, this was one musical weekend.
