Katsucon 2015 – page 13
Clearly, Awesomely Bad has sold out to THE MAN.
Context: right as the panel was starting, somebody came in and stocked the table with a day’s worth of water bottles. No warning, just all of a sudden there was a dozen bottles in our lap. And that’s how running gags are born!
(Historical Notes: Past Me left out the part that made it a RUNNING gag. Every time Kurt worked in a new plug for Aquafina, he’d pull out a new bottle and sit it next to the one he’d brought out last time. So the bottles just kept pilling and pilling up, and just when you thought he MUST have finally run out there’d be ANOTHER one. Prop comedy is fun. But yes, I must point out that Katsucon scheduled Awesomely Bad for Sunday morning. Yet ANOTHER reason for a panelist to not be happy with Katsucon.)
One of my finest spur of the moment ideas that helped add something to the panel. Especially with it being early on Sunday. I don’t think I got a photo of the bottles lined up in front of the laptop (and we also placed the Kewpie there with them too) but at this point our forgetfulness of actually documenting things at Awesomely Bad is another known running gag.
It really adds to the myth if anyone who wasn’t there only has the legends to go by.
