So, Summer Wars only played at one theater in North Carolina that I know of, and I didn’t manage to get out to see it then (I think it was the place where I saw Evangelion 2.0) Thus, I made a point of catching one of the screenings at Katsucon.

BOY am I glad I did. Mamoru Hosoda (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) is rapidly becoming a favorite of mine, and Summer Wars was just a ton of fun anyway. Sure, it’s basically Digimon: Our War Game stretched out to feature length, but that’s still pretty awesome.

(Historical Notes: Boy, for somebody I apparently thought was becoming “a favorite of mine,” I sure haven’t ever had any desire to see any of his later movies.  But then, I barely watch ANYTHING that isn’t at least a few years older than I am anymore.)
