Nothing against Halo and whatever the big multi-player draws are at the moment, but my favorite parts of any Game Room are the simple little retro one-player games. Katsucon did NOT disappoint, with a whole back room full of classic arcade games.

Oh, and the “half-deconstructed costume” bit is because the Game Room didn’t permit baggy jackets with inside pockets (lest someone make off with some controllers or something). Since the costume didn’t make much sense without the jacket, I just took that a an opportunity to get out of the Dr. F wig and mustache.

…and I say again: “STUPID BARRELS!!!”

(Historical Note: I left out the rather important detail that, the previous few years, AUSA’s game room had basically been nothing but a LAN Party room.  Lots of first person shooters and that’s about it.  They got better about that in later years, especially once they got a larger location to set up in, but Katsucon’s Game Room pretty much always impressed me right off the bat.  The more retro stuff a convention has on hand, the more impressed I am by it.)
