Conventional Wisdom

Okay, so first of all, I’m gonna put another “add a link here eventually!” note for when I finally start re-posting old Patreon comics, because this isn’t even the first time the mellow background music in the hotel restrooms has come up.

Second, see?  SEE?  I really DID actually attend panels at this convention!  I DIDN’T just make that up to seem more relatable!  Heck, if I was worried about that, I wouldn’t put out a comic like this in the first place.

But seriously, they had one hundred percent legit elevator music playing over the hotel speakers all weekend.  Cheesy orchestral instrumental versions of songs that were already lightweight pop fluff to begin with… AND I RECOGNIZED EVERY SINGLE ONE.  I mean, not the specific recordings themselves, but I knew the originals.  Literally every single time it was quiet enough to make out the music, I ALWAYS managed to know what it was.  I’ve been to a lot of cons at a lot of hotels that had background music playing, but I’ve NEVER been able to call it every single time before, even when said music is ostensibly more “well known” than some studio orchestra’s instrumental version of a Carpenters song.  You kids with your KPops and your Visual Keis can all go sit down, clearly I know where the REAL music is at… even if said music is the kind of stuff I’ve heard other cons play to get a room to empty out.
