Confession: even my own wildly eclectic -and highly forgiving of easy listening and smooth jazz- musical tastes don’t actually include very much John Tesh. But if the punchline had been “Listening to Mark Isham, Peter Maunu or The Rippingtons”, no one reading this would have had any idea what I was talking about.

And while I do sympathize with anyone who thought that room-clearer they play features waaaaaaaaaay too much alto sax, I must point point out that the rap song they played later as a pallet cleanser was built around a saxophone sample. Check your musical privilege, dude.

(Historical Notes: You know, my interest in easy listening music has only increased over the years, to the point that I honestly don’t think I’d even have anything to contribute to one of those Japanese music panels I used to always co-host.  Getting ready for those is pretty much the only time I actually listen to remotely contemporary pop music anymore.)
