Okay, so, the last time I tried to run a panel off of my own laptop, it turned out to not be a reliable piece of equipment. This time, I had a better laptop, which did everything I told it to. Unfortunately, I failed to tell it to do things like “don’t go into sleep mode in the middle of a video” or “don’t try to do an update in the middle of the panel”. These are both instructions which a panelist really needs to make clear to the computer before the panel begins.

(Historical Notes: The real irony is that, within a year, this “better” laptop would eventually exhibit all the same problems as the last one.  That’s what happens when your hardware budget doesn’t extent beyond “free hand-me-downs”)
