Anime USA 2016 – page 9
(Historical Notes: Past Me probably shouldn’t be complaining that much. After all the times that conventions dumped Shoujo Rock Heaven on objectively horrible times with no audience at all, it’s probably the best thing possible for this panel to have been scheduled directly before the one with an actual following. Also, I can’t remember if I’ve brought this up before, but it’s weird to look back on these comics and remember there was a time when I actually made an effort to keep up with new musical acts. In fact, I think even by this point I was frantically binging new videos right before the con to make up for the fact that I wasn’t seeking out any new stuff the rest of the time. These days, I’d be the one needing to go to a panel like this to get educated on what’s going on, not the host. I’ve got NO useful information about anything less than thirty years old.)
Sometimes even I’ve felt like “well I submitted Shoujo Rock Heaven and it got accepted. Time to see what’s current in the scene!” and trying my best to find new stuff. It’s tough some times, worse is keeping track of which band are still together or broke up, or became new bands… Man keeping up with music is hard.
I know right? This is why, if I ever tried to put together a music panel, it’d have to be about genres from decades ago. I can only keep up with artists who haven’t been active for most of the time I’ve been alive.
Next up, we discuss City Pop, years too late for the internet to care anymore about it.
Dude, that’s my FAVORITE time to discuss anything.
