Not to discredit Grumbles, but it easily could have been worse. Seconds later, and we would have been in an elevator when the power went out. As lame as running up ten flights of stars and back was, being stuck in a dark elevator probably would have been worse.
But yeah, I still don’t know exactly what happened, but the block across from the Convention Center (including our hotel) blacked out for a while Saturday night. And then something interesting happened…
I can’t remember who in our party had to go the bathroom, but it definitely spared us from getting trapped in an elevator during this incident at least.
Also only in Raleigh would a power outage happen due to a raccoon flying too close to the sun (the sun is a transformer box).
Oh wow, I don’t think I ever even thought of that. Yikes.
