Now, I know absolutely nothing about how computers work, other than how to use them for stuff like this. Thus, I have absolutely no idea what was going on whenever the tech guys tried to get a computer and a projector to cooperate. What I DO know, however, if that it happened at EVERY SINGLE PANEL. Seriously, I only attended one panel all weekend that didn’t use a projector, and that was the only panel that DIDN’T start 10 minutes late due to technical difficulties. Clearly, this is hard magic to master.
I’m forever grateful that we now have a mostly standardized PC to Projector/Soundsystem setup of just an HDMI cable and maybe an Audio In.
I think in one of the pre-comic Animazement’s I had to use S-Video as the video signal feed! Luckily I never had to deal with too many issues like horror stories I know from other panelists from those days (like no color signal for whatever reason and such.) Course there were those “wonderful” times my laptop was dead and I was stuck using my PC tower in place. Lugging that around to cons was always the pits.
Oh yeah, I remember helping lug that beast around. But still, at least i don’t remember your computer dying DURING A PANEL like that one time we tried to use my laptop.
