MAGFest 2014 – page 4
…and then it takes about five minutes to tear down at the end of the weekend, which is never not depressing.
Actually, what’s REALLY depressing is being surrounded by the BIG DEAL merchants while they set up. Here I am with all my stuff in a couple of plastic bags I got from the asian super market, and next to us some guys DRIVE TWO WHOLE VANS UP TO THEIR TABLE. That would have been a comic itself, if only I didn’t suck so hard at drawing vehicles.
(Historical Notes: I don’t feel like I ever really got “good” at setting up a table display… though that could just be that the more experienced I got, the more beat up the shelves became, so we kept encountering whole new obstacles as everything became bent and broken.)
At this point, if I ever did return to cons with the setup I used to do, I think I would want to buy completely new grids after all the wear and tear those old ones have.
Yeah, I always felt kind of bad that I had my own box of far less beat-up ones, but we could never use them ‘cos they were silver instead of black.
