MAGFest 2014 – page 1
We were TWO kinds of early this MAGFest. Not only did we do the usual Crack O’Dawn drive, but we did it on WEDNESDAY so that we could set the merchant table up the night before. That information is of little relevance to you, but as you can see, there’s not really much else to talk about regarding this trip.
(Historical Notes: A weird pseudo-benefit of driving to cons by myself more is that the drives are honestly a lot more memorable. You wouldn’t think that’d be the case, but as you can see here, I’ll usually just sleep through any potential interaction with others. When I have to actually keep myself away to avoid crashing, and thus make all kinds of random stops to stretch my legs and clear out the cobwebs, it makes for way more stories to tell afterwards.)
That stretch of 85 is one of the toughest parts to get through of any con trip, especially on the way back. As Agent Cooper once said, “I’ve never seen so many trees in my life!”
I’ve talked about this elsewhere, but I seriously can’t listen to a whole lot of my old favorite J-rock anymore because they’re too closely associated to the sensation of being utterly exhausted & trying to stay awake on this exact drive.
