Like I said before, it wasn’t REALLY the sitting at a table for long periods that I minded. I actually WANTED to spend most of this con in one place, only I’d expected to spend most of that time working on comics. It’s a lot easier to avoid getting bored when you’re tuning out your surroundings anyway.

But also, I just didn’t go over to the Marriott very often because it was CROWDED over there. Apparently the year I finally managed to make it to Triad turned out to be the year they had an attendance spike or something, because you could barely move through there during peak hours (I also didn’t take many cosplay pictures because there just wasn’t any room to DO it). Late night wandering around was the only realistic option.

(Historical Notes: As much grief as I gave the Embassy Suites for being weirdly laid out, at least they had space for crowds.  The Marriott was CLEARLY built with the expectation that people would only be in the convention center halls long enough to get into one of the conference rooms.  Those halls did NOT accommodate any standing around or lining up or taking cosplay pictures, all of which are kind of central to the anime convention experience.  See here for evidence.)
