I really hate parking in a downtown setting. Not just because city driving in general is objectively terrible, but because it’s so EXPENSIVE. My many years of living on the outer fringes of the suburbs have left me utterly incapable of processing the thought of parking space as a finite resource, so processing parking fees always weirds me out. ESPECIALLY when no two lots seem to have the same exact prices.

(Historical Notes: Specifically, I think I was spoiled by what an easy time I’d had with parking at Ichibancon, which is especially funny given what would happen when I finally went back in 2020.  Also, Past Me doesn’t go into too much detail on this in future pages, but half the reason I was worrying about parking at all was because I roomed with some friends who got a really super good deal for the weekend… at a hotel that turned out to be several miles out of town.  They let me crash on their floor one hundred percent for free, so it’s not like I’m complaining about a few minutes’ drive and a few dollars parking, but it’s still the only con where I’ve had to do this.  Every other time I’ve either stayed within walking distance or drove all the way from home.  Unless you also got a room absolutely for free, I wouldn’t recommend this halfway-between setup, for reasons I’ll get into soon.)
