Actually, the first two panels are totally real and were quite cool. Therefore, in my rough draft, I made a serious effort to do caricatures of the real people who ran them. but since they didn’t really look like anyone when I actually TRIED, I just gave up on the idea by the inking step.
(Historical Notes: Every time some new story breaks about somebody in the broader otaku-verse turning out to be a creep, I just want to take the entire convention community by the shoulders and shout “WHAT DID YOU THINK WAS GONNA LIVE IN THIS HOUSE YOU BUILT?”)
Ah the days when I still did my standard Jpop/rock showcase panel alongside the then fairly new Awesomely Bad. I kind of miss doing that panel, but I’ve enjoyed the variations I’ve done since, especially Shoujo Rock Heaven. Can’t wait to host that one again in the future.
