Animazement 2014 – page 14
I dunno what I felt cheated over, it’s WAY more conformable to watch videos from down below than on stage.
(Historical Notes: Is this the final MST3k panel at Animazement? I can’t remember for sure, but I think this is pretty close to where the supply of Japanese movies finally ran out.)
I’d have to check schedules but it was either the last or second to last. I’m pretty sure by the end of it we were down to like two more Gamera episodes and Mighty Jack.
I sometimes miss hosting this event, but MST3K went from being a thing where the majority of episodes we showed were not showing any signs of official release and wasn’t getting a big revamp on a major streaming service. It’s awesome and wild how times have changed at least. I was honestly amazed how long the convention let us keep going with the event, I always knew it was barely falling in the threshold for even being at the event (only ever had one person I remember personally complaining about it to me) to begin with; but I think we gave a good run that made for a special and fun time for a ton of folks at the con and that’s something I’ll always fondly look back on.
Part of me is still a bit sad that the idea to do an actual riffing panel never materialized. The other parts of me aren’t, namely the parts that have been to BAD riffing panels and the parts that have heard the stories about how much work went into making Mystery Anime Theater happen, but that one part still is.
