Lest you should think I’m complaining, this makes perfect sense. The single greatest promotional tool Conventional Wisdom has is word of mouth from friends, particularly friends who themselves made appearances in the comic. Thus, to a WHOLE lot of people, Conventional Wisdom isn’t so much “that comic about conventions” as it is “that comic my friend was in.” And thus, any unhealthy swelling of ego is quickly squelched.
