Yup, this was the first ever time I’ve been at a convention on New Year’s and I totally slept through all the festivities. On the one hand, it does seem like kind of a waste to go through all the trouble of going to a four day geek party, then sleep through the last/first big celebration of the year. But on the other hand, my usual New Year’s “party” consists of falling asleep on the couch watching the Twilight Zone marathon, so it’s not like this was much of a change.

Besides, it’s not like I’m much of a night owl at cons in general these days.

(Historical Notes: I felt especially bad about this because I’d just had so much fun at AUSA on Halloween, and felt like I was missing out on another convention holiday funtime.  In retrospect, though, I doubt actually being at a New Year’s party would have been anywhere near as much fun as a Halloween one, even in a convention context.  I mean, I actually LIKE Halloween, and even then I only barely actually DO anything.  Historically, the only “partying” I ever did for New Year’s was staying up for marathons back when watching TV was a thing.)
