Escapist Expo 2013 – page 1
Dude, if more conventions had winding stairwells next to their panel rooms, it would solve SO many problems. Of course, it would also help if more cons held panels in theaters with multiple balconies that NEED stairs in the first place.
…and that’s another thing: big deal events and panels were held in the Carolina Theater, which is probably the fanciest room I’ve ever seen a convention panel in. That was nearly going to be a comic itself, but I never would have been able to replicate the gee-wiz aspect of the setting. Even an hour of nerds complaining about YouTube feels VERY significant in those surroundings.
(Historical Notes: This is a bit of a milestone, right here. Aside from the Hyatt Regency, where I attended both AUSA and Katsucon, the Durham Convention Center is the only venue so far that I’ve been to for multiple conventions. It’s weird, because I generally imprint HARD on locations connected to specific events, so having a multitude of them all struggling over the same one is downright disorienting. And it also makes it more and more difficult to keep my memories straight the more time passes.)
