It’s Raoul Duke (aka Hunter S. Thompson) from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, in case you don’t know your movies. And no, we didn’t really bring THAT many snacks… unfortunately. You can never stash enough food in your hotel room (provided you keep the cooler filled with ice… yeah, it’s bad when you forget that)

This is actually a double bit of plagiarism. Are we obviously ripping off the whole drug grocery list, but the very notion of combining Fear and Loathing and anime conventions comes from the video That Guy With The Glasses posted about ShadoCon right after I got back from AUSA. Speaking of which, someone must be sneaking me those brownies, because I hallucinate THE SAME THINGS.

(Historical Notes: For a while, I made it a part of my pre-con prep to watch Fear & Loathing right before leaving, to try and get myself in the right state of mind, which is to say the WONG state of mind.  I haven’t done that in a while, mostly because that takes a loooooot of valuable packing/repairing/sleeping time out of that final day, and I kind of need as much of that as possible.  That, and once you strip away Terry Gilliam’s psychedelic directing, I kind of can’t stand Hunter S. Thompson.)
