Technically speaking, it WAS still cheaper than a hotel room would have been… if I wasn’t splitting it with anybody. But THEN I’d have to leverage the cost against the years that organizing a room crew would take off my life.
But yeah, I GOT A COMIC UP THE DAY THE CON ENDED! Don’t get too excited, though. This is only because this comic was actually DONE on Thursday night. I mean, there’s no way this WASN’T gonna be the first page, so why not go ahead and draw it? Of course, now I actually have to go through my notes and figure out what all the OTHER pages are going to be…
Honestly, cost of gas in the US against cost in Australia (where I live) is, dollar for dollar, have YOU spending a QUARTER of what we pay. You’re complaining about something like $1.50~$2 per GALLON, while I’m spending that per LITRE.
All in all, I look at your complaints about fuel prices, and snort in disdain of them.
NORMALLY that’s totally true, but at the moment with the world being… the world right now, US gas is hovering around $4 a gallon, give or take a bit (in some places it’s squeaking all the way up to $5)
I will concede the point, even if you’re still paying about half of what I am, dollar for dollar. Honestly, gas prices like this is probably what’s going to push more people to buy electric vehicles, more than anything else like actually caring about the environment.
As always, the underlying issue here is the unexpectedness. A sub-optimal situation is a lot harder to deal with when it spring up and slaps you in the face than when you have a chance to brace for it first.
