You gotta understand that I first started growing my anime collection right around the time that a LOT of otaku were unloading their old VHS sets and upgrading to DVD, so I was able to scoop up a TON of old stuff on tape for next to nothing.  When the Raleigh location closed, it was a MASSIVE blow to my collecting habits.  Compared those halcyon days of bargain bin hunting, the current selection was nowhere near as as amazing.  But again, at least they HAD a selection.  Not table after table of keychains and funny hats and the same four flavors of Pocky over and over.

On the OTHER hand, though, Triad did manage to attract several decent manga sellers, so the selection of PRINTED works was pretty good.  Despite ostensibly being a book store, McKay’s manga selection was kind of pitiful… and also wedged in the back between the bathrooms.  I’m not even kidding.

Oh, and before you say that I should have held on to my old stuff for something else actually AT the con, we’ll get to that…
