Conventional Wisdom

(Historical Notes: No, seriously, you kids today have NO idea how much faster registration has gotten in the smartphone era.  I still remember my first few cons, where I had to show somebody a photo ID and a printout of my confirmation e-mail, and then they had to manually check me off the list and root through a big binder BY HAND to find my badge.  Admittedly, there was also way fewer people showing up at the con, so they didn’t really NEED to process people as fast, but it’s still amazing to me how fast they’ve made this process.  This is how I truly know I’m not young anymore, more and more of the things I’ll only be able to get used to ONCE aren’t a thing anymore.)
