Anime Weekend Atlanta 2015 – page 6
Context: The Cobb Galleria was designed as a “specialty mall”, where half the building is mall space, and there’s an entrance to the convention center where the anchor store would be. Because the con more or less takes over the now-empty mall space as well as the convention center & hotel, it’s easy to expect lots of connecting points between these areas. Well, there aren’t many, it’s really just the escalators & elevators in the food court. So of COURSE one of the escalators broke after one day.
(Historical Notes: I think this comes up later –heck, I might even have already mentioned it in earlier historical notes– but it really surprised me that the Galleria was still a mostly-empty, hermetically-sealed relic of 1990 even after the new Braves stadium opened right across from it. I was SURE tourist trap stores were gonna take over the mall, and all the old layout would be remodeled, but NOPE! Still just that one old escalator the last time I was there!)
