Two of my good con buddies (both of whom have graced these pages before) were up here for a concert, and we all went and did touristy stuff the next day. I actually hadn’t seem much of the monuments and museums since moving in, so it was good fun… and I got a whole bunch of comic ideas out of it, to boot!

And yes, the final panel did happen. We still have NO idea who this dude was, but he was strutting around, taking the Metro in all this SUPER shiny clothes that were probably stolen from an MC Hammer backup dancer. Welcome to the big city!

(Historical Notes: Given a little more time, and I totally would have made a JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure joke about that guy.  He was THAT garish.  That aside, it’s weird to look back and see me actually doing Washington DC stuff in Washington DC.  Ask anybody who’s ever lived at a tourist hotspot, and they’d tell you they NEVER do any of the touristy stuff because they’re always full of tourists.  There was a time when I’d make a point of swinging by The White House while on the way to Chinatown to buy groceries, specifically to take advantage of the fact that I was among the .000000001% of people who would ever be “in the neighborhood” to do that, but even that got old pretty quick.  For the most part, my DC activities just consisted of long, meandering walks around the Northwest, not any of the stuff any of these people were there for.)
