Yeah, I hope you weren’t looking down here for an explanation, cos I sure don’t know why this one, single spot in the middle of a hall was roped off. At first, I assumed there was gonna be some kind of display, like the camping set-up in the lobby, but nope. I never saw anything go up. Somebody just… roped off a little patch of hallway.
Honestly, if you told me somebody got stabbed and that’s where they found the body, I’d believe you. This was DC, after all.
My assumption: Someone put the rope-off pillars down for a reason (likely because they believed they needed them, or to mark off an area while setting up), and nobody thought to move them afterwards. In fact, someone decided to connect the pillars together without thinking about it, and that resulted in everyone else just leaving it alone.
