Conventional Wisdom

(Historical Notes:  I’ve already gone into a lot of detail on how I avoid hotels as much as possible and the various pros and cons of it, and I’m pretty sure it’ll STILL come up again later.  So, to avoid repeating myself any more than I have to, I’ll just say that I think the bigger problem here was just that I’d been out of the groove for so long.  Between MAGFest and AWA and Otakon, I’d actually slipped back into a steady stream of hotel stays, without any trips to any Durham or Charlotte cons to break things up.  Thus, I guess I didn’t realize how much I was having to relearn about commuting.  Oh, and get use to hearing about the drive, because this will come up a lot.)
