Conventional Wisdom

I’m obviously SLIGHTLY exaggerating for comedic effect, but that beast of a big screen CRT TV really does take multiple people to properly move, and the stand really did start to give way while everybody else was away at dinner.  It just wasn’t BENDING or anything.  The problem was that some of the pieces to hold the shelves in place hadn’t made it out to the convention center along with everything else, and the attempt at jury-rigging a replacement out of tape turned out to not be enough.  But the important thing is, not only were the shelves literally collapsing under the weight of the TV, but there were multiple laserdisc players sitting under there as it was happening.  So, ya know, it turns out to have been a really good thing that somebody was too broke to go out and buy dinner that night.  IT’S ALL BEEN WORTH IT!
